36 - New revolutions, old acquittances
Previous session: 35 - Assault on the Breathforge
After the building finally shut down along the Magic Man, Azzy asks if we did the proper thing by turning off the production, especially for a revolution led by Warforged as it's how they are created.
Azzy realizes that they're not only a weapon, but they're a stolen soul made to be a weapon.
And after pushing a bit further, we learn that Balnorin dogma would make Azzy against his order, so someone to eliminate. But also Senri due to her undead/defying death case. And also Persy due to his processus. Leaving only Nesvalyn safe for that... except he asked to be killed if he's about to turn.
Giving the feeling that Balnorin has a reason to kill the whole party, he mentions that it's not his judgment to apply, so we're more or less safe from his divine judgment... at least for now.
Persy starts to look around after this discussion, as he doesn't want to push further after this realization.
[Investigation - Pass ✔] He finds a switch that can open the door. By checking a bit further, he finds the sleeping quarter of the Magic Man in the back hallway, at least when he had a body. Persy finds his journal while looking around, and when starting to peek through it, it contains notes about the soul core, along the creation process of the Warforged, and his descent into madness. Persy takes the journal for later.
Azzy pull the lever, which opens the door and finally release us from the Breathforge.
When we're stepping outside the BreathForge, we hear an alarm coming from the upper city:
All employees, please shelter in a safe place.
Balnorin proposes that we get some protective gear, then we go to the Scrapyard and get an hyperdrive module and flee.
But we're searching for a safe place first, and rest a bit to tend our wounds from the previous combat.
After we're done resting, we notice that no authorities arrived.
We notice that a Spelljammer docked at the Pinnacle, meaning that the Vice-President arrived.
Balnorin raises again his idea as we don't owe anything to the Rebels, but the main flaw of his plan is the lack of knowledge about the SpellJammers, as we wouldn't be sure what we are looking for precisely, and even if we did, we don't know how to install it on our SpellJammer.
To bounce a bit more about Balnorin's ideals, we were wondering about his reaction with Death Inc and their earlier proposal, to which he didn't want to answer or pursue further.
Then comes the moment on what to do next, as according to the plan, we're supposed to progress towards the Rebels and help them, but comes the idea of going for the Pinnacle and the Vice-President directly to force a cease-fire.
We're bantering for a while, but basically, each part has its pros and cons on our side:
Persy mentions he has an escape plan in the worst case, where would go in the portable hole and he would jump out of the building and land safely, then retreat the furthest he can.
After a final deliberation, we decide to head to infiltrate the Pinnacle, and to capture the VP ourselves to force the troops to surrender.
We get on the elevator and we notice the chaos on the street, as most of the people run around, some use the chaos to loot around, some are apprehended by the guards, and some are fighting Astracom guards.
We notice the barrels of two very large guns on the way, going from the Canyon to the Pit, aiming and shooting towards the Scrapyard and Shipyard.
As we make our way, we notice four Warforged guards having shields and guns as arms, with sole goal to stop people entering the Pinnacle, and succeeding to keep a group of civilians at sight.
We're trying to subdue them non lethally.
We charge them, only Persy doesn't manage to knock him down on the first attempt (and takes 5 dmg), but still manages to knock the guard on the second attempt.
Half of the civilians run away, while the other half cheers.
They pass though us, open the door of the Pinnacle and go through it. Not long after, we hear a cacophony of gun shots and bodies hitting the floor.
[INT] Persy thinks there are 5 and 100 guns inside it.
[Stealth] Azzy sneaks in, and notices the far circular room has no cover on our side. The odds will be definitively against us if we go that way.
We kind of do Persy's escape plan, except it's to get in. Senri will climb up the tower while the party is inside the Portable Hole until she breaks in. However, Balnorin refuses to join.
Balnorin changes his mind and we apply the plan.
When Senri reaches the top of the big shaft known as the Pinnacle, she sees a big lavish office. She climbs to the top, and looks at the Spelljammer docked.
[INT - Fail ❌] You swear you saw that spelljammer before.
She opens the Portable Hole and we all get out.
[CON Save - Pass ✔] No one took cold damage.
[INT - Fail ❌] Azzy doesn't recognize the ship either.
As we get out, the glass shatters from a gun shot (Azzy takes 7 dmg), and we all fall into that office, being greeted by a fancy man.
4 Plasmoids similar to Azzy appear, as they were hidden in the office
Persy tries to cast [Haste], but it doesn't work as he realizes after his attempt that we're in an anti-magic field.
Until suddenly coming from the doorway, Dottie Lombardo with two Ignatius (which are different from the ones we met) slams in and yells "ENOUGH", which gives the feeling that the time in room stopped.
One of the other Plasmoids stops Azzy from acting.
At the moment Azzy says their full name, the four other Plasmoids dissolves on the ground in a puddle.
Once in the air and during the free fall, Persy realizes he has no way save Dottie, so he let her go to use [Dimension Door] from the Owlbear's Paintbrush to arrive safely, then Dottie hits the ground (💀).
After landing safely, Persy goes to inspect Dottie Lombardo, confirming her death, put her corpse in the Portable Hole, then starts to walk back to the group.
Reylynn wakes up and starts to call for Raina, and Persy catches up after a while, and she hugs Persy.
Later that day...
Persy and Reylynn are still walking back to Ombral Springs, and won't be back before the middle of the evening.
We meet the Rebels with Jimothy as an hostage and, we met with the Scrap Queen. We notice then learn that her bodyguards, Pighound and Skagga didn't make it.
She kicks into the back of his knee and kills him using her Sawblade.
As the sawblade cuts through Jimothy, the crowd cheers. She gives a cheer and the crowd cheers more, then flatten her fist and there is silence.
We notice on the other side of the crowd advanced Spelljammers landing in various places of the city.
The queen turns to the trio.
She taps Nesvalyn's shoulder and starts to leave.
